Mum's Blanket is finally finished

I have finally finished it. My mum asked me to do a traditional "granny square" blanket for her bed. She chose the colours and off I went. I think this was about 2 years ago - she understands. I made 100 squares whilst i was sitting at bus stops and waiting at dancing lessons. I then remembered I had to put the cream boarder around them so off I went again although this time it seemed more like progress. Unfortunately I didn't sew in the ends as I went and each square had 4 of the horrid little things. Finally managed to get that done, once again that was something I could do 'on the go' so to speak. Then I had to sew it together. That's when it went into the basket and stayed there. Fortunately mum 'understands' and worries that I am to busy, in actual fact i am just not interested in sewing squares together. However it is done............ (happy dance). It fits a queen bed without a problem hanging almost to the floor. it is really heavy so i am not sure what is going to happen about washing it, that's a problem for later. Mum's happy and so am I.

Using the scraps

I finally have a few weeks off and I am sorting through my craft room. I have found many odd things in there so I thought I would make some 'granny' squares and sew them together for bags for my kids. The larger one I put a wall around the edge and I am going to attempt to line it with some calico or whatever turns up in my clean up. It is for my older daughter and she will want to put things in it that will fall through the holes. The smaller one is just the 2 squares joined and I will not line it as my younger daughter has already whisked it away and put a toy puppy in it, less work for me!
For the handles I just crocheted a few chain and made a long strip until it looked right. Alternate rows of dc and tr (Australian terms).
Well – back to the mess.

Facewashers

I haven't posted for absolutely ages. I am hoping now to keep up with things now i have finished studying - but all good plans etc.... Unfortunately i haven't been taking photos of anything i have been making, i am not sure how that slipped my mind but i shall be more vigilant now (ha ha).
Anyway - last night whilst watching a really uninteresting movie with hubby i thought I'd spruce up these face washers. i didn't use a pattern i just kept ripping it out until it sat right!

Hi, One of the teachers at the primary school is having a baby this month and i made a little jacket for her. I had terrible trouble with the yarn splitting and nearly gave up many times but i didn't want it to get the best of me. I will not be using that yarn again though.

Hi, it has been a long time since I have posted. Firstly because of sheer lack of time but for about 2 weeks I have been battling with my blogger and have not been able to access it.
I made the 'granny square" afghan for my father in law for his birthday and cheated by using a 5.5mm (I) hook ant the other was given to my step mum, I used between 2 and 3 strands depending on the weight of the yarn and used a 15mm (Q) hook. That hurt my hands for a while as I had never used anything so big. The larges hook I have ever used prior to these 2 afghans is a 4.5mm (G?). Anyway, they are done now.

This is a bear that I did a dress for. It was an order for a lady's grand daughter for Christmas. The dress is a baby pattern and I did the newborn size. I had to adjust the sleeves slightly. She was very happy with it, I hope the child was too!

Greetings,
I have finally finished the back of a blouse i am making for my mum in 4 ply cotton with a 3mm (11 or C/D) hook. The top is made of 5 "bands" of patterns and for the front i have 1 1/2 more to go. My wrist is giving me a hard time at the moment but i am seeing her tomorrow so i do hope i get it done. This picture is of the band designs, bit wonky when i sat it on the floor but you get the idea!
